I'm deep into watching SG-1 again. Season 2. We (youngest son, daughter and I) have finished season 1 of Stargate Atlantis, and I was curious how it would be getting back to SG-1. Well I can tell you none of us had any trouble at all feeling the love for this team again.
Some remarks and a question episode 5 'Need':
'The serpent's lair': the relieve I felt with Jack's joy at seeing Daniel when they're back on earth; I couldn't stand that no one even mentioned him. And then there's the open fondness and even tenderness in their embrace. Jack's hands on Daniel's head, and the way he looks at him *happy sigh*. And there's spacemonkey. Heh :D
'In the line of duty': Good to see Cassandra still in Sam's life, and the way Jack is a real friend in such a natural way.
'Prisoners': Ok, we'll see more of this lady obviously...
'The gamekeeper': My daughter and I almost ate our knuckles agonizing over Daniel's grieve. And they had me fooled initially when they were back home again, even when Jack started doubting it took me some time to see he was right. It's fun watching these things with my kids by the way. Everyone reacting out loud. I love that.
'Need': Owowowowowowowowow!!! No words. Nothing to really cover it in any case. So much to love. So intensely painful one moment and deeply moving the next. From Jack's protective alertness when that leader dude is touching Sam, to his whole process of being frustrated, angry and later concerned for Daniel. Sam is the first to see what's going on, that there's more reason for worry than for anger. But Jack fights hardest for Daniel when they're back and Daniel's in withdrawal.
My question: When Daniel has thrashed that storage room and they've been fighting, when Daniel crumbles and collapses, Jack says that he understands what he's going through, as if he's referring to something specific in the past. Is it clear what he's referring to specifically?
So far episodes 4 and 5 are my favorites. I've always loved Richard's Jack and I'm loving Michael's Daniel ever more. Their bond is growing so deep and strong.
Oh, and concerning another fandom: So much Ray Kowalski love to be felt over here where
c_regalis posted a whole bunch of Due South caps to point out the various ways in which he's gorgeous. Oh, the things he does to me...
Hmmmmyeah... Life is good. I'm so loving my fandoms, my crushes.

I LOVE when Jack starts feeling around George's head and saying, "Where's the edges of the mask?" So funny! I'll bet RDA and Don had a hard time getting through that scene without cracking up.
Need -- So far they haven't explained Jack's addiction problem in canon. There's just this moment to let you know he's had one. It's most often guessed that he was intentionally forced to become addicted to heroin when he was being held as a POW in Iraq, or that he developed an addiction to painkillers during recovery after an injury.

Date: 2006-07-14 06:33 pm (UTC)But there's no canon behind this, exactly. Fanfic has spun it lots of different ways.
I loved "Serpent's Lair", too. There is a squee in heaven just for the moments when Jack leaves him there and when they hug.
So happy you're enjoying these guys!

Date: 2006-07-18 11:36 am (UTC)Ah, I'm usually very good at missing out on stuff, but since my daughter couldn't remember anything particular either (and she's extremely accurate about every possible book/movie canon of any fandom she's in) I figured that was the case.
The hug at the end of 'Serpent's Lair' very satisfyingly made up for all the 'wtf, do you guys even remember Daniel?!' moments.

I blame Princess for putting me in this state...
