My introduction to "Jah" was when on September 11th 2002
alchemilla_ send me the first 4 chapters by email. I didn't even know
trianne back then, or LiveJournal for that matter. My initial reaction:
...you were right about the Jah story: I started reading, couldn't stop and have been thinking about it ever since; it's exquisite!
In the meantime I've started my own LJ. One of the first things I did was friend
trianne, a bit tentatively, because I mean, she was TRIANNE! Capital everything. And I bugged her about fics, about Jah, especially in the periods that it took a long time from one chapter to another and I was starting to despair whether there'd be more. And I bugged her about Minic, ever fearing that he would get hurt, and when he got hurt fearing it would get worse, and when it got worse fearing it he would never be happy again. Because for most people this series was about Jah, but for me it was about Minic.
There was a long period in which no new chapters appeared. Trianne had notes for more. Even an ending. But the notes got lost. We met at C4 and I was most annoying and whiny there too. More people were bugging her about it though! It was not just me, honest.
I think she wanted the series to continue and finish at some point too though, she can't have written just on the fuel of people asking her to. It took a while, but the chapters started coming again, and the last chapters came bam! bam! bam! one after the other and I still owe her feedback for that because all I could do was read and whimper; it's truly a grand finale. A worthy conclusion of a thrilling ride. In fact, part of the beauty of this series is, that it only gets better with each chapter, because Trianne never let herself be rushed, rewrote again and again when she thought it was necessary and (I think) became a better writer in the process.
Read 'Jah and the Pharaoh', all 36 chapters, the notes at the end, the inset and the side story (click the scarab) and take a look at the fanart to which some new things are added (click the eye).
