title: 'Merlin Monty Mia!'
vidder: Rodneyscat
fandom: Merlin with a dash of Monty Python
song: 'Lay all your love on me' by Dominic and Amanda from the movie 'Mamma Mia!'
pairing: Arthur/Merlin
rating: PG
warning: It's a silly vid
disclaimer: no, none of the footage I used is mine
summary: Arthur and Merlin want to take their relationship to the next level and ask Uther's permission to get married. He gives them his blessing. And there was much rejoicing.

download: MegaUpload
streaming: YouTube

For one reason or another when I hear this song I see Merlin as Sky and Arthur as Sophie and I've been wanting to mix 'Merlin' with 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' for quite some time.

1) Dude, why can't I just stick to one fandom?

2) Specifically on the fanvids: I'm linking some I've had on one of my YouTube playlists for a long time, because when I checked this morning so many of them have been removed for different reasons, that I felt compelled to point some out before they get removed also. These are vids I love watching, for different reasons. It can be a technically brilliant vid, or a brilliant idea, or the music-choice did something for me, or all of the above.

The Big Bang Theory

A Q&A with Jim Parsons who plays Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory. I would have liked the answers to be written down with the questions, because it got a little too much to watch all the clips, but it's good fun comparing Jim to Sheldon for a couple of them.

SGA

[livejournal.com profile] melloniel is making pic spams of Rodney and John and their Epic Space Love. They are more than just pic spams. She's going through each season, episode by episode, capturing every John/Rodney moment, and making these little collages, often with added quotes. It's all heartwarming and very pleasing to the eye.

Do have a look around! Just start with the first post. There's a link to the next post at the bottom and this way you can click your way through the five posts she has up so far.

Star Wars

The latest SFX collectors item is a George Lucas special. I'm having hours of fun reading the magazine front to back. Especially the minute-by-minute DVD commentaries of all six Star Wars movies, complete with drinking game and little symbols for several key moments like bloopers, trivia, guest stars and pop culture references. A lot of it isn't news, but the us-geeks-feeling is strong in this one, so that more than makes up for it.

I may have snorted some coffee up my nose when I read this on the bus from work back home today:

For "Revenge of the Sith":

02:04:53 Fans of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon slash are heartened to hear from Yoda that the late Jedi Master has discovered immortality. "How to commune with him, I will teach you," says Yoda.

I especially love how they don't feel the need to explain 'slash' here. Apparently it's presumed common knowledge.

Last weekend I went to London to spend time with [livejournal.com profile] loreley_se, so of course now I'm torrenting the first 6 episodes of Merlin because; Anthony Head!!! And Merlin and Arthur are oh so cute and slashy :D

Good thing I already got her reading The Nightrunner series. Fellow-fans, I'm happy to say we've officially got a convert. For those who aren't reading yet: why aren't you?!?!?

What did we do? We went to eat curry, as you do when you're in London. I got introduced to Merlin. We went for a walk and rummaged around in dvd-, cd- and bookstores. Talked about life, work and how silly and annoying people in general and fans in all fandoms in particular can be as opposed to how completely sane and sensible we are. We watched the Battlestar Galactica miniseries while eating pizza. Some sparkly white wine may have been involved. We slept in on Sunday (some more than others). Had [livejournal.com profile] jhava come over which resulted in her and me making high-pitched dolphin noises about several fandoms we appeared to have in common while [livejournal.com profile] loreley_se made us one of her patently delicious lunches. It was absolutely fantastic being able to piss and moan about the latest (and last) SGA season without being accused of being a bad fangirl. (Someone should rewrite that sentence with less use of the word 'being'). We went to see The Last Shadow Puppets. And [livejournal.com profile] loreley_se: their support act was Ipso Facto.

It was one of those weekends that are nicely leisured, relaxing and over way too soon.

Seeing the comments left and right I don't have to hurry seeing SGA's latest episode, so I'll just go on watching Armagaddon clips in fangirlish glee. And may I specifically point out this clip of David Hewlett with Jane and their son (awwwww...)
Also, is it just me, or has David lost some weight?

rodneyscat: (maggie loves reading)
Last week I've been quite busy because on moments I wasn't working at the bookstore in Utrecht, I was filling in at the bookstore in Nieuwegein. This week will be the same. It's nice seeing my former colleagues again, but I'm glad this is only temporarily because I'd been looking forward to some time for myself with the kids back at school and all. Well, at least I have Sunday's off.

On top of me not having much on-line time as it was, internet went down a couple of times this week. In spite of that I managed to get SGA 5x7, so I watched that last night. Some spoilery remarks about this episode and an upcoming one behind this cut. )

I've also watched the first episode of Farscape and it took me all of 2 minutes to fall hopelessly in love with John Crichton; I finally added Ben Browder to my interests.

Oh, and I'm using my tram and bus traveling time to read. A couple of Dutch writers (Siska Mulder and Joost Heyink), Lynn Flewelling's ([livejournal.com profile] otterdance) Nightrunner series, and I've been rereading some of my favorite Rodney/John adolescent fics. Rawr!!

Hi! Home for a bit, between camping at the seaside and staying in a holiday cottage. Doing laundry, cleaning and putting away the camping gear. Between takes I sneak in some fandom-time and here's what I've been enjoying:

Stargate Atlantis

[livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's "Five lies John told", now with added art by [livejournal.com profile] lim. These two keep on inspiring and complimenting each other in such a delightful way.

I watched the latest episode "The Daedalus variations". Cut for teeny tiny (spoilerish) review. )
There appears to be a two week break while the Olympic games are going on, so it'll take a while longer then expected to get to the episode I'm so looking forward to (link includes spoiler picture) *ngggggh*

[livejournal.com profile] jhava made a team focussed Atlantis wallpaper that made me go 'yes, yes, yessss!!' and it's now my desktop.

Stargate SG-1

[livejournal.com profile] paian has added more bits to her WIP comment fic "Come what may" (I'm now at comment no. 63 70) and I have to sit on my hands to stop myself from writing any more feedback *headdesk*. Soon people will wish I was still suffering from my feedback-block.

[livejournal.com profile] apple_pi pointed out a better version of the Michael/Ben Comic Con kiss and Scorpsik made it into Daniel/Cameron kiss art.

Music

When I got home a parcel had arrived of the Linkin Park cd I'd ordered; 'Minutes to midnight', the one with 'What I've done' on it. I've immediately put it on my ipod.

On that note:

Harry Potter

It was in fact this vid (spoilers for the Deathly Hallows chapter called "The Forest Again") that made me decide that I wanted the cd.

Avatar

Speaking of vids: I'm not in the Avatar fandom, but my daughter is, and right before going on holiday last week she posted her latest Avatar vid on YouTube and was pleasantly surprised with the enthusiastic reactions it had gotten.

Oh, and although I'm not in the fandom, I still have a favorite Avatar vid by Ravenhpltc24. Awesome timing and use of music and lyrics that one!

rodneyscat: (david geek)
...but have I told you people that I'm also watching Band of Brothers with my oldest?

rodneyscat: (rodney and john boys and their toys)
Last night Mr. D_E, the kids and I went to see 'Transformers'.

No spoilers imho, but I'm cutting, just to be on the safe side )

Also: American actors/actresses need to step away from the tooth-bleach.

rodneyscat: (pippin confused)
I was really excited when I saw Heroes was going to be on tv over here, so yesterday evening I sat down and watched the first episode.

So, is this about what I can expect, or is it going to get better later on? Because I was thoroughly unimpressed.

Last week my oldest son told me he'd seen a series on the Comedy Channel he thought I might like too. Turns out they've started The Office US.

:D

I didn't even know we got the Comedy Channel, let alone that they'd started a series that I was curious about. I love that he pegged it as a series I'd like, hee, and I've only missed the first 4 episodes, so yay! I've now watched 2 episodes and yeah, it's definitely my kind of humor. Of course I've immediately fallen for cutie pie Jim.

And about my previous entry. Huh yeah, of course that question of mine begged a question right back at me. One which answer I should have put in the entry immediately. Anyway, my porn-crush is Johnny Hazzard *points at icon*. I'm still trying to find more material, but am bumping into lots of expired links or files that are uploaded to sharing sites that don't like me. I'm trying to find a file sharing service to upload the couple of files I've got, because they're a bit too big to put on my site.

In the meantime here's some links for the very curious among you:

Johnny dancing at YouTube. Fully clothed, completely work and kid safe. It leaves me with a big, big grin every time I watch it. Sexy in a goofy way :D

Johnny's blog. Because of course I fall for a porn star who has a blog... (no actual porn going on there either).

rodneyscat: (Default)
You can see the interview he did yesterday evening, at YouTube: part 1 and part 2. By the way, [livejournal.com profile] kohaku1977 pointed out this great site that not only downloads from YouTube, but also converts the clips to .avi files!

Damn, he's a lovely lad!

In alphabetical order:

Due South

Recently season 3 finally came out on dvd over here. I haven't even finished watching season 1 and 2, and even though they're quite enjoyable, I skipped right to season 3, because Callum Keith Rennie as Ray Kowalski; need I say more?! *lusts*

Firefly

My daughter is making me watch Firefly, because she kept on saying she thought I would really, really like it. So now we're watching it together. Why didn't anyone tell me just how awesome that series is?!?!? Oh right, a lot of people did, I just never listened...

Lost

They've started season 3 a couple of weeks ago over here; they've lost me. Pun intended because it's really not worth a better one.

Stargate Atlantis

I skipped the audio commentaries for season 2 that don't have David, Joe and/or Martin Gero in them, and went back to the audio commentaries for season 1 that do. My conclusion: Martin Gero is a god as far as I'm concerned, and I mean one of those nice ones, that actually do good with their divine abilities. My favorite moment is behind this cut for (slight) spoiler: )

Stargate: SG-1

We (youngest son, daughter and I) are still going slowly, because we absolutely want to watch this series together, and the logistics of that are complicated, but we're not in a hurry either, so we're fine with that. We are now in season 6 and have recently watched 'The Abyss': omgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgetc... In short: words fail. Seriously. So much love.

Supernatural

Erm... My daughter likes it, and when she's watching I try to watch with her, but I keep getting the urge to go fold laundry or something. We're now 3/4 into season 1 and I still don't see the attraction. Even Callum Keith Rennie was boring in it.

Torchwood

Finished the season. Cut for spoilers )

rodneyscat: (elijah dj try 17)
Behind the cut you'll find a summary of some of my favorite music videos.

Before you click the cut, there are a couple of things I'd like to point out:

1) If a YouTube link isn't added, it's because I couldn't find one that was posted by the actual vidder.

2) If a link to a downloadable version isn't added, it's because a) I couldn't find it, b) it's not available (anymore), or c) the vidder doesn't want to be linked.

3) Please don't post links in the comments if I probably left them out because of the reasons given at 1), 2b) or 2c).

4) The reason I love a video is purely personal. It's not a matter of how technically complex or artistically amazing a clip is, but what it does for me. If it made me laugh, cry, giggle, smile, jawdrop or run to the shop to buy a complete dvd set.

On to the music video recs )

rodneyscat: (elijah leaning)
This one deserves a separate post, because watching Galadriel say they'll fight the cops and the mob and Aragorn asking for a hardtop with a decent engine and a big trunk is priceless: White City

And while I'm here may I add that the trailer music for Sin City never fails to whip me up and get the adrenaline flowing; it's the best trailer music ever.

All brought to you by the letters I, M, H and O.

(comments disabled, because omg help)

[edit] Incidentally, this Sin Atlantis City video made me want to rewatch every damn SGA episode. Plus it has me desperately searching for 'Cell' by The Servant, because whoa! And by the way, LimeWire obviously sucks.

[edit 2] I've gots it!! I'll upload it later for sharage in case people are interested, but now I'm rilly, rilly going to clean toilets, go grocery shopping, and iron/fold laundry. The latter can be done with Cells playing LOUD on repeat, so that's something to look forward to. In fact, I may start with that :D
