Hi! Home for a bit, between camping at the seaside and staying in a holiday cottage. Doing laundry, cleaning and putting away the camping gear. Between takes I sneak in some fandom-time and here's what I've been enjoying:

Stargate Atlantis

[livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's "Five lies John told", now with added art by [livejournal.com profile] lim. These two keep on inspiring and complimenting each other in such a delightful way.

I watched the latest episode "The Daedalus variations". Oh well... they can't all be great eps. It was all a bit... awkward writing I guess? Hard to act naturally. Dialog that didn't quite work. And I mean, they often make stupid decisions (which makes for fun action and reaction), but this time even more than usual (which made it silly and somewhat annoying). Most of all I didn't like the wooden dialog and the bad timing. I still loved Rodney though.
There appears to be a two week break while the Olympic games are going on, so it'll take a while longer then expected to get to the episode I'm so looking forward to (link includes spoiler picture) *ngggggh*

[livejournal.com profile] jhava made a team focussed Atlantis wallpaper that made me go 'yes, yes, yessss!!' and it's now my desktop.

Stargate SG-1

[livejournal.com profile] paian has added more bits to her WIP comment fic "Come what may" (I'm now at comment no. 63 70) and I have to sit on my hands to stop myself from writing any more feedback *headdesk*. Soon people will wish I was still suffering from my feedback-block.

[livejournal.com profile] apple_pi pointed out a better version of the Michael/Ben Comic Con kiss and Scorpsik made it into Daniel/Cameron kiss art.

Music

When I got home a parcel had arrived of the Linkin Park cd I'd ordered; 'Minutes to midnight', the one with 'What I've done' on it. I've immediately put it on my ipod.

On that note:

Harry Potter

It was in fact this vid (spoilers for the Deathly Hallows chapter called "The Forest Again") that made me decide that I wanted the cd.

Avatar

Speaking of vids: I'm not in the Avatar fandom, but my daughter is, and right before going on holiday last week she posted her latest Avatar vid on YouTube and was pleasantly surprised with the enthusiastic reactions it had gotten.

Oh, and although I'm not in the fandom, I still have a favorite Avatar vid by Ravenhpltc24. Awesome timing and use of music and lyrics that one!

Your daughter's Avatar vid is PERFECT! (I don't have a YouTube account to comment, but it's just gorgeous. Na'ysha must see it.)

*g* And, you always collect the most amazing of fandom gifts. I adore the spoiler pic, and the better version of the Michael/Ben kiss.

One of the more pleasant surprises of things that happened during my holiday was finding you back on LJ :D

Hi!!

About that fandom stuff collecting; I kind of miss being in just one fandom and digging deep. I feel I'm only scratching the surface of most fandoms I'm currently interested in, so usually what I link to is something people on my flist aren't interested in, or if they're interested they've already found it. I'm mostly linking as a way to archive for myself. It's good to know that every once in a while it's actually interesting for others too!!

*g* Thank-you! I'm glad to have found you again. LOL... I would have found you sooner, but you've changed. Rodneyscat suits you!

Most definitely I appreciate your links. I've found we share very similar tastes and you always seem to get to things before I do, so it's been wonderful for me. :-D I, too, because I'm interested in a variety of shows and issues feel I only scratch the surface. It can be frustrating. I wonder what I'm missing. :-)

It's hard for me to pinpoint why I found Daedalus Variations to be so meh. Mostly because "lost jumping through the AUs" is such a fabulous fanfic trope and I've seen so many wonderful versions of it. This one was just ... boring. Ah, well, 5x05 up next!!!

We're kind of spoiled with the awesome fanfic writers in the SGA fandom. It happens so often that the official writers come up with stuff that I think 'Oh, I read that last year, only better!'

Imagine this team of actors in an episode written by [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza. Oh god...

I liked 'Ghost in the machine' (if only for the whole fucking range of emotions on everybody's faces; Joe and David I love them both so dearly for what they're doing!), and David with his Twitter remark has made me look forward to 'The Shrine' even more than I already did.

Thank you for commenting & rating! I love that she's so enthusiastically participating in a fandom, even if it isn't mine. She's big time into manga and anime. I'm glad we still share a couple of fandoms (especially music), because it's fun watching stuff together (such as SGA), and have some things in common to look forward to (Harry Potter for example).

I'll give your Owen icon my Tosh icon (new Torchwood is being filmed at this very moment!!!)
