A little clip of Colin Morgan's introduction to an item on the work of Arts Care Northern Ireland Clown Doctors.

SG-1

* fic recs (of the 'late to the party' variety):

'Small tents' by [livejournal.com profile] brainofck (R, Jack/Daniel)

Jack trying to act practical and nonchalant about the unintentional snuggling habits in his sleep, and Daniel being sweetly manipulative. A warm and satisfying story.

'Pale shelter' by [livejournal.com profile] jd_junkie (NC-17, Sabrina/Daniel)

Sabrina being Catherine Langford's niece whom Daniel meets at Catherine's funeral. Bittersweet, warm and sensual. I really wanted someone for Daniel to connect with, if even for once in a while. It's more than just sex, even if it's not enough.

'On a mission' by [livejournal.com profile] iamrosalita (NC-17, Jack/Daniel)

After reminding Jack of their 'no sex on a mission' rule, Daniel proceeds to drive Jack crazy by just doing what he usually does. Needless to say the rule gets broken pretty thoroughly.

SGA

* fic rec

'RULE social•b. 99.1' by [livejournal.com profile] velocitygrass (PG-13, John/Rodney)

John and Rodney being bored together, until Rodney inadvertently outs himself by quoting a comic.

SG-1

From this post in Joe Mallozzi's blog:

Question: ...anyway i was watching some oldies…ahh season 1 and i started wondering when did you guys realise that when exiting the stargate having to make the guys all frozen over would be too much…”

Answer: The day a faux frost-covered Richard Dean Anderson stumbled out of the gate and declared “This is going to get real old, real fast.”

SGA

[livejournal.com profile] wraithfodder has some lovely reports with pics and vids up in her journal of the Cherry Hill Stargate Convention. I particularly loved the one of Jason Momoa, in which he tells of how he shocked David Hewlett (and amused Joe Flanigan to no end) by mooning David from Joe's car, and how he's the gay guy to Joe's straight guy. Those who are going to Chevron 7.2 should be in for a treat.

* A couple of fic recs:

'Aspects of Divinity (the world is my oyster)' by [livejournal.com profile] rinsbane (NC-17, Rodney/John, AU)

This fic combines a couple of things I'm particularly fond of in Rodney/John fics: They hook up way before Antarctica, when they're just 18 and despite their differences they bond over so much. There's sensitive, melancholic, protective John, with a fondness for ferris wheels, and there's too intelligent for his age, grown up too quickly Rodney, who needs to be taught how to have fun. They are so meant to be together.

'Not quite Benjamin Braddock' by [livejournal.com profile] velocitygrass (PG, John/Rodney, Rodney/Jennifer)

Did I mention they are meant to be? That kind of gives the outcome away, but avid McSheppers wouldn't read it otherwise, and avid McKellers would be disappointed if they did, so it's best to know up front imho. It's one of [livejournal.com profile] velocitygrass's 'pining John and oblivious Rodney with a hopeful ending' fics that she does so well.

Merlin

[livejournal.com profile] mistful has written a hilarious yet weirdly accurate spoof on the series so far.

* Fic rec:

'Who's counting anyway' by [livejournal.com profile] phantomjam (NC-17, Merlin/Arthur)

There's mutual flirting and teasing until they get to a point where it's either act, explode or leave off altogether. Seeing as the fic is rated NC-17 it's clear where this is going, and I must say it includes a scene that fits in nicely with what I mentioned here.

Miscellaneous

* Vidders on vidding.

[livejournal.com profile] laurashapiro & [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza have made a set of short documentaries about vidding according to vidders. I loved watching those geeky vidders, some of whom have made vids that I treasure, talk about why they do what they do. A short introduction with the link over here.

* Ben and Josh slash themselves.

And then one of the comments in this post at [livejournal.com profile] face_of_joe reminded me of something [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr pointed out three years ago: there's an Easter Egg on the region 1 version of the extended dvd of Pearl Harbor, that has a scene of Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett re-enacting the animal cracker scene from Armagaddon. The entry is now locked, but she was kind enough to send me the caps she'd made back then. You can see them here (click 'slideshow' at the top right corner, then 'fast' at the bottom left corner and watch the cuteness).

And fucking finally a release date for the SGA season 4 box and Stargate Continuum; both October 1st.

Yeah, I know I could order them from the UK or something, but I want the Dutch version so I have the option of Dutch subtitles, plus they'll be versions that match the ones I've already got.

In the meantime I'll amuse myself with watching:

[livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's smashing new vid 'Supersmart' that's all about the SGA fandom.

[livejournal.com profile] kuwdora's vid 'Let there be guns', which is mostly SG-1 with some SGA added in the mix and sounds like something violent but is actually hilariously funny.

No really.

While this made me go 'oh please no...'

Hi! Home for a bit, between camping at the seaside and staying in a holiday cottage. Doing laundry, cleaning and putting away the camping gear. Between takes I sneak in some fandom-time and here's what I've been enjoying:

Stargate Atlantis

[livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's "Five lies John told", now with added art by [livejournal.com profile] lim. These two keep on inspiring and complimenting each other in such a delightful way.

I watched the latest episode "The Daedalus variations". Cut for teeny tiny (spoilerish) review. )
There appears to be a two week break while the Olympic games are going on, so it'll take a while longer then expected to get to the episode I'm so looking forward to (link includes spoiler picture) *ngggggh*

[livejournal.com profile] jhava made a team focussed Atlantis wallpaper that made me go 'yes, yes, yessss!!' and it's now my desktop.

Stargate SG-1

[livejournal.com profile] paian has added more bits to her WIP comment fic "Come what may" (I'm now at comment no. 63 70) and I have to sit on my hands to stop myself from writing any more feedback *headdesk*. Soon people will wish I was still suffering from my feedback-block.

[livejournal.com profile] apple_pi pointed out a better version of the Michael/Ben Comic Con kiss and Scorpsik made it into Daniel/Cameron kiss art.

Music

When I got home a parcel had arrived of the Linkin Park cd I'd ordered; 'Minutes to midnight', the one with 'What I've done' on it. I've immediately put it on my ipod.

On that note:

Harry Potter

It was in fact this vid (spoilers for the Deathly Hallows chapter called "The Forest Again") that made me decide that I wanted the cd.

Avatar

Speaking of vids: I'm not in the Avatar fandom, but my daughter is, and right before going on holiday last week she posted her latest Avatar vid on YouTube and was pleasantly surprised with the enthusiastic reactions it had gotten.

Oh, and although I'm not in the fandom, I still have a favorite Avatar vid by Ravenhpltc24. Awesome timing and use of music and lyrics that one!

As much as I adore James Spader as Daniel in the movie, Michael Shanks makes a pretty damn good Daniel too. And one thing I have to say in favour of him; he definitely aged better.

QED )

Just saying. Yum.

rodneyscat: (jack and daniel contemplative)
...SG-1 related this time.

Which episode is it again that has the scene of Jack carrying Daniel through the gate and tenderly laying him down on the other side? And is that the same episode as the one that has Jack freaking out in the infirmary and slapping a map or something on the contents of a medical trolley?

Playing a couple of my favorite fanvids* inspired me into re-watching some of the episodes that are featured in them. Most of them I found, but these two scenes I can't quite place...

* I'm more then willing to give a list if anyone is curious/interested, it's just that I think anyone who is interested will probably already know them all; when it comes to fanvids I don't have a particularly unique taste!

[edit] Found! By [livejournal.com profile] onecheekyhobbit. So obviously I'm going to re-watch SG-1 4x18 'The light' tonight :D

rodneyscat: (michael wretched)
RIP Don Davis.

To speak with Teyla: "I feel a great sadness"

rodneyscat: (jack and daniel contemplative)
This video by [livejournal.com profile] barkley made me want to watch 10 seasons worth of SG-1 all over again. Fastpaced, centered around the colliding and attracting personalities of Daniel and Jack.

I'm feeling the Daniel/Jack loving hmmmmmmm...
