This series is set in our time (which I don't have a problem with at all) in the US army (which threw me off a little). I got drawn in and found myself wanting to know more about these guys, curious about what would happen. I specifically love the way the story goes back and forth in time, so some things become clearer in the course of it.

'New light' by kageygirl (Arthur/Merlin, PG)
Short and PG but sizzling with erotic tension.

'One whiff of a barmaid's apron' by rainchild_ai (Arthur/Merlin, PG-13)
She had me snickering and snorting quite a few times there. I love the twists and turns in this fic and the way Arthur, much to his confusion, loses grip of the conversation.

'Next time I will remember this and I will say no' by paperclipbitch (Arthur/Merlin, NC-17)
This has already been recced all over the place, and rightly so. Arthur talks a very reluctant Merlin into switching places with him when they visit a neighbouring kingdom because he got bored discouraging potential marriage candidates himself.
This fic deals in a very satisfying way with their differences in rank and personality. By switching roles they learn a lot about each other, and themselves.
Also, it has a bonus completely believable top!Merlin and bottom!Arthur.

'Worth fighting for' by velocitygrass (Jennifer/Rodney pre-het, John/Rodney, NC-17)
There are several things in this fic that I don't usually like reading (jealousy, angst, competing) and now I didn't just love it, I needed it. I needed to see John not give up on Rodney, fight for him, court him, work his charm for him. And I believe this Rodney, who has trouble dealing. It's a given that when written well, like here, I love Rodney to bits, but this fic had my heart bleeding for John. And it was so incredibly satisfying to see him succeed!
