rodneyscat: (elijah clueless)
Under 'video' there's the option 'snapshot'. When I click that, indeed a small snapshot of the scene playing appears in the upper left corner of the screen. Then it fades and is gone again. Shouldn't this be in fact an option to actually make screencaps or something? You know, like with Quicktime player, you can make caps by chosing 'copy' under 'edit'. If that's indeed possible, how does it work?

[edit] I worked it out!!

Ah, just look at them :D )

And another one: )
rodneyscat: (I am useful)
First, get your VLC media player here. (With this player you can play loads of types of files, sometimes even the ones you can't play with the player it's for.)

Then create a VLC snapshot folder by taking the following steps:

- open the player
- click 'settings' at the top of the player
- click 'preferences' from the drop down menu
- click 'video' to the left
- In the main field you get now, you can browse to the place where you want your snapshot folder (I picked my desktop), select that place and click 'make new folder' and give that folder a name (I named it 'vlc snapshots' because I'm obvious like that)
- In the main field you can also choose what format you want your pictures (I picked .jpg)
- click 'OK'

Now you have a folder where the player will send the snapshots you make.

- play the file you want to screencap
- pause any scene you want
- click 'video' in the top bar
- choose 'snapshot' from the drop down menu
- the picture will show up in the folder

Good luck!!

[edit] I just tried, and if you've got a dvd-drive on your computer; it also works for dvd's and it's region-free!!
