It seems that not everybody is aware of the Travis version of 'Baby one more time'. Their (live) version (which is the version Billy sang) can be downloaded here.

Yeah, I agree, but it was more a way of putting it. When it was known Billy was going to sing 'Baby one more time', most people (including me) had Britney in their heads; I for one practically saw Billy singing the song wearing a schoolgirl skirt ;p
Now Billy didn't 'cover' the Travis 'version', but it's quite obvious he sang the song the same way they did, even using the same chords on the guitar.
True, I'm not familiar enough with either version to be talking about it, really.
I just think sometimes a person doesn't get enough credit for doing what s/he does with a song--he may not be doing anyone's version, at least consciously--just singing it the way he wants to.
