[livejournal.com profile] dibssis was kind enough to post some smallish pics in one of the comments in [livejournal.com profile] undone27's LJ. Spoilerish (duh...) pics posted by [livejournal.com profile] evil_obsessed. A blurry scan, but it's pretty obvious what's going on, posted by [livejournal.com profile] bunniewabbit.

I'm not sure if it's going to be my kind of movie.

Elijah is in it, therefore it is definitely my kind of movie. But for you, is it the violence and blood that you don't like? Or were you being sarcastic?

I have a problem with violence. As in: a real problem with real violence and references to that.

It's not clear to me what is to be expected of this movie, but I think I'll try watching it anyway because of Elijah.

The things I'm willing to do for this guy...

From what I gather, the movie is trying explore/understand the violent behavior of football hooligans, not just revel in it. I totally agree that movies that glorify violence for violence's sake (Terminator, Lethal Weapon, etc.) squick me, but if this one uses the violence to get at a deeper understanding of human nature, it might not be so bad.

The thing is, I don't have a problem with movies like Terminator, because I don't identify with anyone in that movie. I can watch a movie like that and enjoy it like I'd enjoy a really cool computer game.

I'm not even worried so much about identifying with a victim (although that makes it tough), but I'm afraid of identifying with the aggressors. And not even to find the darker side in myself. I'm well aware of my faults, and extreme fysical agression isn't one of them. I'm afraid of being too aware of the darker side in humanity. I'm afraid of feeling lost and hopeless.

Fuck, this is getting way too personal for my comfort. I've already deleted a comment on this subject, I'm not sure if I'll let this one go. (This has nothing to do with you or the person my deleted comment was for, this has everything to do with me and my fears.)

Thanks for that, I would have missed them if you hadn't been as wonderful and ever and posted the links.

You are a star.

I know what you mean. I will of course see the movie, and I don“t mind the bruises, and I do hope he gets to kick some ass too. But that scene with the credit card...I winced when I saw the pictures (although the "after the card" ones were kinda funny because he looks like a vampire) and I am pretty sure I will cover my eyes during that particular scene.

Yes. Close my eyes, and cover my ears. And it wouldn't be any different if it were one of the other guys who's the victim and Elijah the menacing party; it's the situation that's bothering me.
