Mar. 21st, 2006 09:24 amIn our cinema we have a monthly movie for the elderly on a Thursday afternoon. This viewing is quite popular. Near the end of the season we have a voting for the next season. The people in the audience get a list of movies with a description of them, we show them as many trailers of those movies as we can get and after viewing those the people get to vote. The 6 movies that get the most votes are definitely in the program of the next season, the others we will pick ourselves.
Last week we had such a voting (it's always lovely preparing those) and yesterday I got the list of which movies have been voted in (someone else did the counting, now I'm supposed to make the program). The obvious choices were in ('Ladies in lavender' and 'Pride and prejudice') but I was happy to see that on the fourth place was Brokeback Mountain.
This was a bit of a personal victory for me, because I've been nagging my boss to get that movie, and haven't been able to convince him that there's actually an audience for it, and once a week we have special movie-house viewings and the guy who organizes those also couldn't be persuaded to put BBM on the program. And now the audience has picked it (guess who put that choice on their list in the first place...). Hah!!!
