rodneyscatPost-quest: "On the road home" (Merry/Sam/Pippin) is a story of Merry, Pippin and Sam on their way back from the Grey Havens back to the Shire. It tells about the deep grieve they feel, the knowledge of the incredible loss that's slowly sinking in and the way they help each other deal with that. It's heartbreaking, but also encouraging and hopeful. They grieve hard and give and take comfort unreserved and by the time they get home they feel up to picking up the threads again.
It's the kind of fic that makes tears come to my eyes, but leaves me smiling nonetheless.
