Some months ago my default icon had changed into a pink icon with confetti. The weird thing was, I was the only one who saw it that way. Only after deleting the icon and reinstalling my default everything looked right again. I still don't understand what happened. Why was I the only one seeing that change?!?!?

Today my default is just about the only icon that looks right to me! 35 of my icons have changed in random other icons and some of the others have switched place. For example, the one called 'dom freckle' is now in fact my dj!Elijah one. And my happy Frodo icon that magickalmolly made for me has turned into a t-rex skull. Am I the only one seeing this again?!

Now I can delete and re-upload my own icons if that's what it takes, but I'm also seeing some icons from others different. magickalmolly's DOM icon has changed and so has almaviva's Billy and I miss them sooooooooooo!!!!

*weeps*

[edit] ok, so it's a lj maintenance thing (although I get that the user pics may change, but wouldn't everybody see the same thing differently then? Ah well, it will remain a mystery I guess. *waits for user pics to return properly*)

I see the dom freckle quite normally *LICKS IT*... and no sight of a t-rex skull.

this realy is quite mysterious. i am tempted to attribute it to your ISP, some issue with routing requests, maybe losing IP packets in the http lines so that the links to the images become mangled, but not enough to miss the image, only enough to modify theone icon-link into another?

That's one of the icons that's disappeared for me!! It's Johan, a very cute gay porn star. dead_icons made it and now it looks like a fuzzy face of someone I don't know to me...

I'll use it anyway.

Oh! Ok, that sounds like it makes sense. Although I still don't understand why I see the icons different than anyone else. I could understand if they changed, and everybody saw the same (wrong) userpics. I'll just wait until it goes away then (but it's been like this since early this morning and it's afternoon for me now *is impatient*)

I JUSt read in Live Journal maintanence that you're not the only one having this problem. "I just need to do some work fixing broken user pics, shouldn't take too long" or something like that.... so it's probably nothing to worry about for the moment.

I once saw all of Hope's icons flipped upside down, but to her they looked fine. Weird, I tell you. Baffling technological glitches!

My icons kept showing up differently for me than for others, so I took all 35 that had gone wonky down, and re-uploaded the ones I wanted. My own icons look right to me now, but there are still a couple of icons by others that are wrong :(

I hope it will change back eventually, because there's nothing I can do about that and I sure miss some of the icons I'm used to seeing!
