This morning my youngest wanted to re-watch 'The Goonies', and called me just a few minutes into the movie, pointing at the screen; hee! Koyla!

Hey, it was news for us...

Later I came across something that I think is a spoiler for one of the latest sga episodes. Because flaunting around 'savedoctorbeckett.com' banners is not very subtle I must say, meh... (I understand some things can't be kept secret for long, and going to the internet is practically asking to be spoiled, and I'm not really mad at anyone, but allow me to sulk a little bit, ok?)

So, to cheer myself up, I looked at this (very familiar, but never gets old) picture for a very, very long time.

Now I'm horny like omfg alkfjdlkj...

I'll spare you, but the things I could say about that picture *touches screen*

That mood icon was damn easy to pick.

It reminds me of this picture (http://www.xs4all.nl/~dutche/dominic_insomniacs_nightmare.jpg) of Dom: same 'manly yet vulnerable' effect.

Having just recently met 'Dr. Beckett', I'm very sad to hear they're going to cut him. That sucks. He's one of the better characters.

Do you mean you've only recently gotten into sga (being Carson Beckett) or have you met him for real at a con or something (being Paul McGillion)?

Paul McGillion was at SFX 06 in August. I never posted anything about him, partly because I hadn't gotten any picture. He was a very interesting speaker though. He said (in unaccented American), that he does not himself have a Scottish accent, but his father did. So he can copy it accurately.

He mentioned several incidents where he would be talking to someone, then do reading for Beckett and people would just stare at him. But his own accent is so naturally American that when he was speaking in Scotland, he wouldn't use the accent because he felt that it was fake.

I've watched SGA on and off. But for a year now, I just haven't had time. I'm considering getting back into it, but don't know how easily I'll catch up.

I'm sorry you were spoiled! So far, it's just rumor; nothing official. And frankly, I find it hard to believe.

but will you hate me if I admit that I hope it's true?

Heh, no I won't hate you :)

The 'meh' was more about being spoiled than about maybe having to miss Beckett. I like him fine, he has some funny moments, and I like the inner conflicts he has to struggle with, but he's a bit, uhm, a caricature? So it's just a rumor at this point? Nothing really happened yet?

I miss Aiden Ford. I think the storyline that led him away from the team is an interesting one, and made for one of my favorite episodes 'the lost boys', but I miss him.

Well, I do read spoilers (I dislike tension; isn't that odd) and haven't seen anything official. I'm not sure why I doubt it. Maybe because I don't like Carson? After six years of Billy Boyd, the actor's phony Scots accent is like fingernails on a blackboard to me. Plus he's mean to Rodney, and I'm very protective of McKay. But who knows. I heard that the gal who played Kaylee on Firefly is going to be a doctor on the show; I think that sparked the rumors. Maybe?

Oh, Aiden! Yes, I loved Aiden, too. In fact, I was all prepared to hate Ronon, but he very quickly won my heart. Both the character and the actor. Still, I hope Aiden keeps popping up. Maybe he'll save the city one of these days.

As I was just saying to d_e,his accent isn't really fake. His father had it, so it's easy for him to put it on. Also, as I said, he refused to use it when he was speaking in Scotland, because he felt it was fake.

Not to be obstructive, but I've listened and loved Billy Boyd's Glasgow accent for six years now, so he's my gold standard. To me, Carson sounds more like Scotty on TOS.

Of course, I don't like the character, so that might predispose me to not like the accent. Who knows.

To each her own, right? I'm sure he's a lovely person; he must be, since he and DH are bff.

But - not to be obstructive - Glasgow has a very specific accent which is different from other parts of Scotland. I have Scots friends and THEY can't understand people from Glasgow. Still, I'm not that fond of the character so I'm interested in seeing what will happen. I have not liked the way that the plots now have Carson as a member of Sheppard's team; it makes no sense and he's usually completely in the way (or that's the way it's written).

I wasn't taking any of it as an argument - just a discussion. Anyhow, I guess that explains it. Who knew that a small country like Scotland could have significantly different accents!

Oh yeah! The Netherlands is just a tiny country, but it's easy to tell just from the accent from which part of the country everyone is. Sometimes people from one part of the country can't even understand the people from another part. The accents can vary significantly from town to town sometimes just 20 kilometers apart, and people in my hometown could hear it when I'd been visiting my family during the weekend in a different part of the country, because I'd take on their accent and it would take me a day to get back to my own.

Oh boy, I recognize that in the extreme!! To the point that I sometimes want to kick the butts of the writers of the show when I feel they're not doing him justice. When they make him whiny in a situation where I feel he wouldn't be, or clumsy when I'm sure he would do better. Some of the writers of fanfiction know him better than the writers of the show. There's something awfully wrong about that theory of mine I guess...

You too hm? He looks so damn inviting, and sturdy but with just the right amount of padding, and soft cotton t-shirt & shorts right down to the silly socks, and the hair on his legs leading up to uhm... and this is where I get at the point where I'd like to do more then just peek up his shorts *coughhackcough* check if soft can turn erm... anyway, you get the general idea.

Even his smile is soft by the way.

Did I mention he looks inviting? And accessible, as in, someone I can picture myself with.

Oh boy, I need help...

Er, hi. Me again, lurking around friendsfriends again. If you keep on posting links as *whoa* as that picture, I'm going to have to ask if I might "friend" you.

I'd be able to say more about the picture if I weren't effectly almost wordless right now. *goes to stare some more*

There's more where that picture came from over here (http://sg-atlantis.emedian.net/); a very droolsome collection of HighRes pictures.

Oh, and feel free to lurk or friend or use that new spiffy tracking device on the user info page to keep you informed of new entries, it's all good! I hardly friend anyone anymore myself though, because I've got a hard time keeping up with my friendslist as it is, so please don't take that personal.

I've been staring at that picture, getting all hot and bothered, more often and longer than I dare to admit.

*g* No problem. There are only so many hours in the day, after all! *friends*

There's just not anything not to like about that picture. (Okay, except that it's just a picture, and molesting the laptop's screen doesn't do much for me.) Wow.

Typing this without looking at your post because I don't want to be spoiled.... I'm actually worried that I won't be able to make it the next few months without being spoiled, which makes me sad, ahahaha. Being a spoilerphobe sucks!

Anyway, hi. :)

The spoiler turned out not to be a spoiler after all, which is a spoiler in itself, so you may want to keep avoiding the actual post. In case you were wondering: you can safely click the link to the picture as it doesn't lead you behind the cut. It's Rodney on the couch, but you're more of a John kind of girl isn't it?

Hi yourself :D

No no no I am TOTALLY a Rodney/David Hewlett person. Ahaha. The Joe Flanigan icon was a fluke, though I do have a sort of fondness for him as well :).

Thanks for the warning/clarification! *looks at picture*

ha, ha, never seen that picture of David. It's not a cap from "Home" is it? Because he is not smiling there, I think. Whew, that episode was complicated, I had to watch it 3 times to get everything.

I would be actually sad, if Dr. Beckett would leave. He has grown on me.

I got that picture from here (http://sg-atlantis.emedian.net/). Apparently they've got a couple of promo/teaser pics in there among the others, that never actually made it to the episodes as broadcasted. Like there's a picture from 'Duet' of Laura Cadman kissing Rodney which never made it into the actual episode.
