My daughter and I just started on season 6 of The Gilmore Girls. Good lord, that series is awesome. It's all about normal, every day problems and situations. Happy moments everyone will recognize. Good and lovely people sometimes being stupid or selfish. Unsympathetic people showing unsuspected nice sides. Misunderstandings and reconciliations.

It's the laugh-out-loud sense of humor combined with genuinely moving moments. The way my stomach hurts in sympathy with some of the characters or I bounce in my chair when things go the way I hoped. I don't think I've ever cried as often for any other series I've seen.

And the list of favorite characters goes on and on.

Gilmore Girls is one of my absolute favorites! I did it the same way, working through the DVDs season by season with my daughter. The dialogue is so sharp and funny and I have such a lot of respect for Lorelai.

When she is dating Jason/Digger, someone asks her why she's dating him, because he's not at all her type, and she says, "Because he can keep up." I loved that; it's the story of a smart woman's life: tyring to find a guy who can keep up.

Watching Gilmore Girls has turned out in a real mother/daughter experience for us. And I must say, I love the kind of image this show gives for girls. So many interesting, strong and fun women & girls! Miss Patty, Babette, Rory, Lorelei, Emily (for all her faults, I can't help but love the woman), Lane, Sookie, April. And before you ask; no, I don't want to include Paris in this list.
