I've worked a lot lately and now I'm too tired to reply/comment etc. I'll have tomorrow afternoon off, so I've got good hope I can catch up with LJ and email tomorrow evening, since I'm not too far behind.

If anyone feels like guessing the songs to these first lines, be my guest.

These were the first 20 songs that popped up when I put my playlist on shuffle:

Now with the answers (and an lj-cut...)

1. Anticipation has the habit to set you up
(Arctic Monkeys - View from the afternoon)

2. Oh, I've been working a week, I'm tired
(Hard-Fi - Living for the weekend)

3. Sally was a fifteen year old girl from Nebraska
(Gogol Bordello - Sally)

4. I feel so extraordinary, something's got a hold on me
(New Order - True Faith)

5. Because we can, can, can
(Fat boy slim - Because we can)

6. What were you thinking, I guess I'll never know
(Korn - Open up)

7. Shake down 1979
(Smashing Pumpkins - 1979)

8. Tattva, acintya bheda bheda tattva
(Kula Shaker - Tattva)

9. Oh nice, this is really a mash-up. Bonus points for getting both of them:
a. Here come old flattop, he come grooving up slowly
(Beatles - Come together)
b. Help me, I broke apart my insides
(NIN - Closer)

10. Wake up in the morning with a head like 'what ya done?'
(Scissor Sisters - Don't feel like dancing)

11. No sign of life pulsing through these ageing veins
(Badly drawn boy - Peak you reach)

12. You've got a great car, yeah, what's wrong with it today?
(Dandy Warhols - Bohemian like you)

13. Break me in, teach us to cheat and to lie, cover up what shouldn't be shared
(Muse - Citizen Erased)

14. Remember me when you're the one who's silver screened
(Placebo - Special needs)

15. Like anyone would be I am flattered by your fascination with me
(Alanis Morissette - Uninvited)

16. When I was a young boy I tried to listen, and I wanna feel like that
(Coldplay - White shadows)

17. It's a godawful small affair
(David Bowie - Life on mars)

18. There's spiders in your room, but there always will be
(Editors - Spiders)

19. Distant flickering, greener scenery, this weather's bringing it all back again
(Imogen Heap - Headlock)

20. She's taking her time making up the reasons, to justify all the hurt inside
(Savage Garden - To the moon and back)

[edit] I'm not screening, because I'm going to assume you're not peeking, just as I'm assuming you're not googling. Right...?!

I love playing these. :)

Me too :D

Wow! I'm especially pleased you got 18 right. I love all these songs to bits. That particular playlist has my favoritest songs ever on them.

And you got the bonus point too! Fantastic mash-up that one. Works beautifully.

7 is 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins. 11 is A Peak You Reach by Badly Drawn Boy! Good song.

I so know 16 and 20, but my mind isn't coming up with names. I can sing the given line, though. :x

Also, I didn't peek. ;)

#3. 'Sally' - Gogol Bordello. That's an easy one. *g*
#4. 'True Faith' - New Order.
#7. '1979' - Smashing Pumpkins
#8. 'Tattva' - Kula Shaker. Also easy. :)
#9b. 'Closer' - Nine Inch Nails?
#12. 'Bohemian like you' - The Dandy Warhols
#15. 'Uninvited' - Alanis Morissette. Or is it that new version?

[ETA] I've read the other comments, and I do know 'To the Moon and Back,' and the lines looked familiar, but it wouldn't come to me. *pout* I love that song!

All correct! Awww for not getting 9a. The Kula Shaker song is still the version I got from you. New version of Uninvited? I've only got one, which is the (what I figured was the original) Alanis Morissette one...

Yeah, there's a clip here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8ydHhuCH_0). I saw it on tv one time. Wasn't overly impressed. The girl seems a tad narcistic. It's not bad, I guess, but nothing like the original.

Oy, I'm old! The only ones I knew were 9a, Come Together by The Beatles, and Life on Mars by David Bowie. (Love both of them, too!)

#9 a and b are the only ones I recognize. Um, the Beatles' "Come Together" and... Nine Inch Nails' song where the chorus starts "I want to fuck you like an animal"?

*rereads and laughs at myself*

Yep, both correct.

You can be sure that the NIN song (which is called 'Closer') isn't in the playlist I use at work.

I get that when I read my own feedback to particular fics sometimes, especially when I don't know the writer (very well). '...I especially loved the rimming...'. It really feels like I should at least formally introduce myself or something!

12: Boheamian Like You! By... um... Shalott? *g* (I only know the song because of Shalott's lovely SGA video, that is.)

Ahahahahah!! With this particular song I happened to have the (Dandy Warhols) cd before I got introduced to the clip, but there are loads songs I got hooked through fanvids! Most of the songs I've bought through itunes in fact, because in most of these cases I only wanted that particular song, and not the whole cd.
