The Nightrunner series

Just finished the second book 'Stalking Darkness'.

Of course I love Seregil and Alec to itty bitty bits. But Nysander, Beka, Thero and Micum; they all stole pieces of my heart.

I'm looking forward to reading the third and fourth book, and I'm so happy to know a fifth is in the making!

I have these on my bookshelf and I keep looking at them, knowing they'll be great but not wanting to start them. If I start them, then the anticipation will be over and I'll whizz through them too fast and have to wait for the next one and does this sound strange to you? Because it's strange to me!! I don't do this normally.

Well, seeing as I'm deliberately trying to read them slowly, because I want to spread the fun as long as possible, it doesn't sound strange to me.

I make myself read them only on my way to work and during my breaks. They're lovely books to savour, you know, to read a couple of chapters, and then let them sink in.

The cover-art puts me off big time; they look like harlequin novels to me, and I wouldn't have started them if they hadn't been recommended by people whose taste I share. They're anything but fluffy though. Especially in the second book there's some extreme violence. It gets very dark. But the character development is wonderful, and the writer has me care for them so damn much.

Do start on them!

Heh, it does make sense. The Nightrunner series certainly are books that you whiz through because they're so good! Book #5 "The White Road" will be out... err, next year sometime. Summer? Something like that. I do think Lynn mentioned a rough timeframe on her LJ, or maybe I'm mixing things up with "Shadows Return". Easily possible! :) Can you hold back that long? :D

Late reaction, but have you read them yet? I'd love to know what you think of these books. I can understand wanting to savour them, and it's true that once you've started to read, they're not 'new' anymore, but I've found that in re-reading they're just as lovely and fresh to me as they were the first time.

Then there is also the Tamír Triad, which is about different, though also very intriguing and lovable, characters, but there are a lot of elements there you will recognize from the Nightrunner books, and the books are just SO good. And Lynn is still writing new Nightrunner books, so you'll have a while to go before you've read all of them. :)
