Just finished the second book 'Stalking Darkness'.

Of course I love Seregil and Alec to itty bitty bits. But Nysander, Beka, Thero and Micum; they all stole pieces of my heart.

I'm looking forward to reading the third and fourth book, and I'm so happy to know a fifth is in the making!

I've just finished it as well, I'm 30 pages into book 4 and I'm loving it!

I hated that Micum got hurt and won't be the same and Nysander.... oh no. But what they did at The Cockerel, that broke my heart. Innocents slaughtered without really knowing why.

But I adore Alec: pushing, bolshie, innocent Alec!

Oh, Alec is definitely my favorite. I'm glad you're reading the books now too! Oh god, what happeend at the Cockerel, what had to go through there and what Seregil encountered... it got a bit too much for me there, and this was just the beginning.

Lynn is so great at writing characters I really care about, whether they've got a big part or are just in there for a couple of scenes.

I'm rereading bits and pieces from the first two books before I start on the next one; spread it out a bit *happy sigh*

I read an interview with Lynn in which she said that it was Seregil that came to her and she had to find a world to put him in. Funny if that's how it came about that we both love Alec best.

I have to admit I skipped some of the really gruesome bits towards the end of book 2, they really aren't my thing.

I could also do with a bit of a glossary on book 3. I'm having trouble remembering who everyone is and what half the words mean! I still love Alec and Seregil though....

I was just going to add something when I realised it was a spoiler! Come on, read so I can talk to you about it!!!!

I've put the 3rd book in my backpack for tomorrow when I go to work, so I can start on that one. I always read when traveling there and back, and during my break.

I'm actually thinking of writing a who-is-who; it's getting complicated indeed! Don't you miss a search option like you have on a computer when you're reading a book?!

I'll admit there was one term they kept using in book 3 that I couldn't remember what it meant.

I goggled it.

It was there, on wikipedia. It helped out then but it didn't have a whole lot else - just the main characters. You wait till you get to book 3, I'm bloody confused! Last time I wrote notes as I read a book was 'I Claudius' - I couldn't remember who was related to who in that.

Another very late reply. Just 'discovered' this post and want to share my thoughts. I also thought book 3 was harder to read than the first two, because of all the new characters and the typical Aurënfaie words, and all that. I remember I had some discussions about it with [livejournal.com profile] ourdramaqueen, about the different mythical beings (Bash'wai, Khtir'bai, etc) and what they meant, and all that. I re-read book 3 a while ago and still had trouble keeping everone and everything apart. That doesn't mean I don't love it, though. But book 4 was definitely easier to read. ;)

I loved it but I did tend to skip over things. In the end I simply didn't bother trying to remember all that stuff, I just concentrated on adoring S&A!

Yeah, all the different clans and where they come from and all that, and they all have these long surnames. :)

The big bonus in book 3 is that we've moved into the Seregil/Alec established relationship, which lends a whole new dimension to everything. All the unresolved sexual tension of the first two books was lovely, but I was glad they were finally together. They make SUCH a lovely couple. I can't thank Lynn enough for giving us these wonderfu books, and these wonderful characters.

As for favourites, I like Alec and Seregil equally; Alec because he's so young and innocent and enthusiastic, and Seregil because of his past and his being flawed and damaged. They are SO perfect for each other. *happy sigh* I also love Thero, and am quite enamoured of the Beka/Nyal dynamic. Nyal is definitely a favourite, too. And I have a weak spot for Ílar; again, because he's so broken and damaged. I really hope we'll see more of him.

I did enjoy the fact they were together, it had gone on too long to take anymore! I liked them physically together as well. My big problem with book 4 was that they were apart for so much of it.

I know it's naughty of me but I skipped most of the part when they weren't together.
