You're right! Oh, I'm so glad I watched it! First one I've watched in quite a while; I think the last three are just sitting on my harddrive because what I read about them didn't make me want to watch.

But this? Was great! Oh, weren't John and Rodney terrific together? All the scenes: the race cars, the banter, the handshake . . . And oh Teyla! Wow! She is so very awesome. Everybody was awesome.

Thank you! Oh YAY!

On the one hand it's damn frustrating, because it shows the contrast between what SGA was, what it's become and what it could have been right until the end. But on the other hand I'm glad we got at least this. I didn't expect an episode like this one anymore. I've been rewatching episodes from the first seasons and thinking 'damn, damn, damn, look at what they took away!' because that's how I feel. And now with this episode? No Keller! No Beckett! And lots of Ronon, Teyla, John, Rodney, John/Rodney, team, Atlantis, Michael, Radek (finally!). Hell, I'm not opposed to every change; I love Woolsey, and baby Torren. And Amelia *cheers*!

And it had everything I love about SGA; humor, banter, excitement, clever plans, fights, explosions, the big big city, team, people working together in all kinds of combinations, individual strengths, a bad guy with some humanity left inside, good people with a dark side, etc. etc.

Boy, I heartily echo everything you say. I told someone else that the SG PTB seem to enjoy turning gold into shit -- because when SGA is good, it's so good: so much fun, so emotionally rewarding. And your list:

humor, banter, excitement, clever plans, fights, explosions, the big big city, team, people working together in all kinds of combinations, individual strengths, a bad guy with some humanity left inside, good people with a dark side

matches up perfectly with my list. Oh, SGA!

At least they gave us another wonderful episode to save and treasure.

PS: Forgot to say Woolsey! He's so much fun! And yeah, I now ship Amelia/Ronon, I think.

Seeing the reactions left and right, I expect some Amelia/Ronon fics to pop up sometime soon! It's fun to see that some regulars in tiny roles grow to be such fan-favorites, like Siler and Walter for SG-1, and with SGA it already was Chuck and lately Amelia too. She's intriguing, such a quiet, reliable type, and somehow the fact that she's a great fighter was a surprise for a split second, but then it seemed to make perfect sense.
