The new SGA is no more or less eye-rolling than usual. On the plus side, the team manages to all four go through the gate on a mission together. Oh, and I like Carson's hair better. And one of the baddies is pretty hot. On the minus side it's. All. About. Jennifer. Damsel in distress, once again. Teyla gets next to nothing to do, even though she's there. And it doesn't do anything about any plot arcs, which is usually fine, but it's disappointing to see filler as one of the last shows.
I'm not used to being able to see an episode of anything before the majority of my flist. The Merlin fandom is ridicilously quick with downloads, so it should be up soon.
I actually quite liked this episode. There were some really odd moments, especially Rodney's reaction to Jennifer acting weird, and I always hate it when Rodney is nasty to Radek. And I would have liked for Ronon and especially Teyla would have had more to do, although I liked Ronon being the blaster of reason again; if only people would listen to Ronon more!
But contrary to what a lot of people feel, I like it when we see stuff from SG-1 turn up, I really liked the woman who played the person who switched bodies with Jennifer, I thought it was a good idea to see their 'inside' person and their 'outside' person just in mirrors and such (it's what they did for Vala and Daniel too, and I was used to it that way), Carson didn't bug me too much for once and for the first time I felt real chemistry between Rodney and Jennifer in the final scene.
Yeah, if I had seen this ep at any other time it would have gotten a better reaction from me. But being nearly the last ep, and after feeling like Jennifer eps took so much time away from the team already, made me more meh about it. It's not a bad ep, just the context.
