MY KIDS ARE DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!

I want them all in school. Now. Holiday OVER.

Argh...

Youngest is at school now, but the other two won't have school until NEXT WEEK WEDNESDAY. By the time they'll go, my oldest will have had 9 1/2 weeks holiday O_O

He stays up late, gets up early, talks to me ALL FUCKING DAY. He can't do a bloody thing without wanting to TALK about it; what he sees on tv, what level he's on in some computer game, what he's reading in the newspaper/mag/book he's reading, what he's just done, what he plans on doing next. He informs me when he goes to the bathroom for crying out loud!!! And it doesn't seem to bother him when I tell him I'm not interested 'could you breath for a moment without telling me about it?' He'll be quiet for a little while, and when I'm right in the middle of writing a feedback he'll put on MTV and start "hey, I like this song, could you download it for me mom?"

No, I don't want tips on how to handle this. I just to complain about it. And I want school to start.

Amen. My two kids are gonna kill each other if school doesn't start soon. (and we have to wait until Sept. 1st for that here!)

Oh my kids don't kill each other; they do impersonations in which one is Sponge Bob, the other is Patrick and they both have giggle fits...

*blinks* seven?! On the other hand, I had 4 cousins for a sleepover last week and the 7 of them were less work than my 2 oldest kids alone: those two are bored as hell, when they were with 7 they played among each other! I bet it's totally different though when they're together all the time. Now it was new and exciting and they had fun.

Your suggestions are excellent though!!

Also, I meant to mention... I am coming to The Netherlands for two weeks in September. I've already spoken to [livejournal.com profile] samena about getting together, and wanted to ask if you might want to play as well. Adriaan's mom lives in Amersfoort. Also, we go to Amsterdam all the time if that's easier for you.

Let me know. I'd love to meet you for a cup of coffee.

*heart*

Oh! I'd love that! When exactly will you be in the Netherlands? Amersfoort would be easiest for me, but Amsterdam is certainly a possibility too. Also we could meet in Utrecht which is very easy to reach by train from Amersfoort, Amsterdam, the place where Samena lives and the place where I live. It's a lovely city, with lots of places to shop and sit and have coffee and a chat.

Adriaan's aunt and her family live in Utrecht! We go there all the time. I would LOVE to meet you and [livejournal.com profile] samena for coffee!!!

We'll be in the Netherlands from September 4-18. Adriaan and I are taking a 4-day trip to London (Adriaan's mom, Marian, is watching Ethan for us). I'll figure out exactly when we're leaving and I'll let you know.

I'm so excited. Thank you for meeting me!

*hugs*

Ok, I haven't got anything planned yet for that period (except for Sept. 16th, but even then I just have to be home early if no other date is available) so I'll wait until you know more and I'll contact [livejournal.com profile] samena what she thinks about going to Utrecht :D

Can I just comfort you by saying this? I did the most obnoxious happy-dance known to mankind the day my kids started school this week. I felt like a totally bad mother for being so ecstatic about them being gone for a few hours a day, but I have the same thing you described. I could sit at the kitchen table for hours, drinking coffee and looking bored. Children ignore me. The second I grab a piece of paper to write on, or get on the computer . . . I am their new best friend and they will explode if I don't sit in rapt attention as they describe their last bowel movement or the three hour conversation they just had with their dweeby friend who I can't stand in the first place. Let's do a primal scream together! AAARRRGGHHHH! There, do we feel better now? *hugs*

Shared misery is always easier to bear, and if you can laugh about it together . . . even better! Ü Happy to help!

You're not going to want to hear this.

You know, I am so looking forward to my girls starting school in a couple of weeks. It does get annoying having to deal with them instead of getting done what I either want or need to get done.

But, for some reason, when I read your entry I was suddenly struck by how much I'm going to miss it one day, when they no longer want to talk to me so much and don't need my help with anything anymore. And now I'm all choked up.

Guess maybe I should go spend some quality time with my kids today.

I found out it's easier for me spending quality time with my kids when they haven't already been around me all damn day! When they've been to school and I have had some quality time to myself, I'm a much nicer mom.

But yeah, it amazes me what this 13 year old still wants to share with me. I don't remember me telling my mom that much!!

Yes, I know how it is, love. I had one used to follow me into the bathroom to continue talking. Just wish he was still here to do it.

The stage does pass, infuriating as it is. No consolation at all when your nerves are on a knife edge, is it?

I STILL inform everyone I'm going to the loo. Do it everywhere, too. But there IS a good reason. Last did it outside home in a Uni lecture. "Really?", said the tutor, raising his eyebrow. Some habits die HARD!!

MY KIDS ARE DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!

OT, but you've reminded me of a very old joke...

A man walks into a bar with a car steering wheel down the front of his trousers. The barman says to him, 'Do you know you've got a steering wheel down your trousers?!' and the man replies 'Yeah! It's driving me nuts!'

Vroom! Heh. Sorry for the lameness of the joke, but I hope it took your mind off your troubles for a tick :)

This one was new to me, and it's such a shame the joke gets lost in translation, because it would have been one the oldest would have enjoyed :D

Yeah, I first heard it in Ireland, where 'me' is used for 'my' all the time :)

btw, when I was at school we got our holidays at the start of June and didn't go back until the start of September! No wonder my mother smoked back then!!

sounds to me like he's bored, and maybe starving for attention? Doesn't he have friends he could go to and do fun stuff with? Or any hobbies he could do in silence? ;)

He can't do anything in silence! He's always doing stuff with subtitles. And you bet he's bored, but at this age when friends come over they're just bored together and being loud about it... Then I have 2 or 3 13-year olds getting politely in my way with their long limbs and giggling with their breaking voices.

9 1/2 weeks is just too long a time to have a holiday.
