sga clip requests anyone?

YouTube used to be such a nice resource for specific sga scenes. Since the vast majority of those clips are now removed, I felt the need to make clips of my personal favorite sga moments. I like having them sitting in separate folders, for when I'm in the mood for 'Rodney/John banter', or 'moving moments', or 'Ronon/Teyla interaction' etc, and be able to play them all in a row. That's how I had my YouTube clips sorted anyway.

I'm going through episodes one by one, and while I have them up in movie-maker anyway: if anyone has a specific scene (or several scenes) they'd like to have, this is the time and place to request them.

Requests would also be a helpful reminder for me, so I won't skip certain scenes. So don't hesitate to ask.

I used to re-watch the Rodney on morphine scene whenever I needed a laugh. "Looks like you but with messier hair" & "that's my butt!"
The personal shield, over the ledge "I shot him!" bit.
Ooooh, I also love the Rodney/John 'flying lesson' in "The Defiant One".
Rodney "bonding" initially with the little children in Childhoods end and Ford laughing at him.
The team bonding/bitching session in Progeny is great.
One of my all time ever fav sequences of scenes is Rodney explaining how they're going to launch the ship via volcano in "Inferno" and then through to them actually doing it. One of the bestest ever Rodney moments/SGA action scenes!!

I know there's more. I tend to think of scenes from "McKay and Mrs Miller" or "Echoes" and then I realise it's the whole episode instead of individual scenes!

Oh yeah, a couple of those clips had been put up by melloniel, whose account has been disabled dammit. I've just started making clips, and that scene from Progeny is one of the first I made (especially love the bickering over the time John wants specified and Rodney can't give him, and how Rodney goes from annoyed 'I have to do everything here' to 'ooooooooooh!!! *lightbulb*' in the blink of an eye.)

And I know what you mean with the difficulty of picking scenes; I'm now trying to do that for 'Trinity', but it's mainly a collection of favorite scenes all strung together!

Your suggestions are on my list though, and I'll start uploading stuff to YouSendIt and editing this entry with links once I've got a decent amount of clips finished.

Ooooh, another fav is John's first time going to fly the jumper on the planet, and Ford is wanting to tag along offering a turkey sandwich.

I haven't kept a clip collection although I realize now that it would be great. Here are random moments that I remember and that I like: I'm not sure whether they would be as good as clips, at least some of John's lines in The Storm, The Eye and The Siege, but some of them, sure. (These are kind of John/Rodney oriented!)

Rising part 2: Sheppard confusing Rodney with numbers, that look

The Storm: "You know McKay'll come up with something. He's just setting himself up to be a hero." "Well, McKay will come up with something."

The Eye: "What would McKay do?" "This is a Rodney McKay kind of plan!" "They've got McKay!"

Siege 3: "I've learned to trust Rodney about these things."

209 Aurora: Teyla and Ronon explaining why John and Rodney aren't there: "He needed to reconfirm the frequencies of the neural feedback loop." And of course Rodney saying that he and John have this thing where they rescue each other.

219 Inferno: the scene at the beginning, the whole scene because I love how John and Rodney turn "flirting with the girl" into a "bicker with each other" situation in seconds. Especially "You've blow up entire planets, Rodney." "That wasn't my fault!" "Well, it didn't do it by itself!"

Also, the scene in which Rodney freaks out and Sheppard points out that the Daedalus may save them, and then he suggests that Rodney could fix it, and Rodney is first irritated but then realizes that he could.

And the scene right after that, in which John and Rodney bicker about the name of the ship.

And the scene later, in which they talk via radio and John tells Rodney "Well, I guess we're all going to die," and Rodney accuses John of doing that on purpose and John motions Norina to be quiet and barks, "Now get your ass back to work and fix those damn engines!"

There were more slashy moments in this episode than I remembered!

318 Submersion: The beginning, the whole scene: "Do I have to pull this thing over?"

319 Vengeance: "Then unshield it!" (I like the way John says this, but it might not work as a clip. I think it could have been you, actually, who pointed the line out, or then it was someone else on LJ. After Rodney does just that though there's the conversation via radio between them that I really like which includes these lines:) "So I see." "Define time and... define near." (The whole discussion)

I love the Progeny scene of John and Rodney bickering about time! Thank you so much for the clip!

- Confusing Rodney with numbers: you mean when John knows how many combinations there are?

- I know all these 'John referring to Rodney' quotes you've got there, but I don't know where exactly those scenes are, not from the top of my head, so I'll see which ones I can find and will work as a clip. 'What would McKay do' has got to be in there though!!

- The Teyla and Ronon scene from Aurora was already on my mental list (the one in my entry is far from complete...) because I just love these two conspiring together. The way the give each other these 'Oooh! Good one!' looks while taking turns coming up with excuses.

- I have a love/hate relation with that Inferno scene, because I love the bickering, and how it turns more important than the flirting, but I kind of hate John's role in it. It's more clear in the scene where John is with the girl and he's making a show of bitching at Rodney.

- All the other scenes you mention (and morebliss also had a thing for a lot of Inferno, so you're definitely not alone there) I'll have to check if they can be made into clips.

- That Submersion scene definitely needs to be made into a clip: love that line.

- Vengeance has some great scenes I've planned to make clips of. I love Ronon's 'No, you listen to me John!'. And Teyla suggesting to Rodney that Michael may have had a family and could be a scientist. And I love Rodney's 'You think you've used enough dynamite there, Butch?!'.

I remember I've said something about that unshielding scene somewhere, but I mostly remember being taken by how Rodney triumphantly announces to John he's succeeded in unshielding, John reacting a bit 'yeah, whatever' and seeing Rodney quickly swallowing his disappointment.

Which reminds me of another 'Oh Rodney...' moment I had in Epiphany, when he taps the floor next to him invitingly for Elizabeth to sit down, and then she sits down several feet away from him. That little 'huh...' from him before he proceeds doing what he was doing.

Yes, I mean the combinations thing. I've watched that scene over and over again -- it's the only scene that I can find within sixty seconds (I've memorized when it happens: 14 minutes into the part 2 of Rising).

I love the clips you have offered so far! I wouldn't have thought of the argument of who goes into the pod in Aurora but it's wonderful: Teyla pointing out that Rodney would be a greater loss, Rodney's "She's right!", John and Teyla exchanging looks, and their expressions are just hilarious.

My 'Oh Rodney...' moment would be in Inferno -- after Norina suggests that she could study under Rodney some day she and John share a moment and Rodney seems to be sort of, "Yeah, figures," and focuses on the console. I remember when you posted caps of the Epiphany moment. Caps and clips and commentary are wonderful things -- I love seeing the show and the character through someone else's eyes, and we do concentrate on different things, for example you having a mixed reaction to the opening scene of Inferno while I tend to think of it only as a positive scene.

How do you make clips, by the way? I'm always assuming people have some superior technology to make caps and clips, but if it's easier than that I could try it too. Watching the clips is certainly fun!

Forgot to answer your question: I use Windows Movie Maker. It comes free with Windows. Well, I had to download it, but that was free. Just google it, and you get directions to a site where you can get it (I get results for Dutch pages, so it's easiest if you just google yourself).

The software is very simple to work with. With just a little fooling around you quickly get the hang of it. The downside is that it's not precise, and there's a lot quality-loss etc. It's clearly not very fancy. I've tried making a couple of fanvids with it, but it gets kind of frustrating because it's all very limited and clumsy. It's nice enough though to make these snack-sized clips, knowing you can watch the whole thing in high quality any time you like!

These are fantastic! I watched "Rodney's plan" (219 Inferno) twice. John's sudden appearance, Rodney's relieved voice, their conversation about the plan... I hadn't remembered that the scene was so much fun.

And the technobabble scene in 110 The Storm! I remembered that one from Hewlett's interview but I never found out which scene he meant -- I couldn't hear who he said to be all, "Now there's two of them!" Hilarious.
