feeling the sg-1 team love

Of course I hoped season 7 would have some episodes I'd like, but I never expected to be so damn delighted by a couple of them!
Some short observations on the first 8 episodes:
Fallen:
Daniel returns: what's not to love? Although the team reaction is underwhelmed to say the least, and that was quite disappointing. I felt deflated after this episode. Anti-climactic is the word I'm looking for I guess.
Homecoming:
Farewell to Jonas: Aw, I'll miss his dimples. Boring episode otherwise.
Fragile balance:
Mini-Jack! With pimples and everything! They sure picked the right kid for this. And pissed off (original) Jack is always a delight. Plus it was great watching my daughter beaming, because she'd been looking forward to this particular episode, since clone-Jack features in a lot of the fanfiction she reads (mostly Buffy/SG-1 crossovers). I suspect she has a crush on the kid...
Orpheus:
It's always lovely seeing Bra'tac again, and Rya'c's character develops nicely. But what I loved most of all was the friendship between Daniel and Teal'c. It moved me to smiling tears.
Revisions:
Hi Jinto's dad :D
But otherwise, ah well...
Lifeboat:
This episode must have been a blast for Michael! It certainly was for me. Plus I love Janet to bits, especially when she gets something more to do than just medical stuff. And I love how this episode carefully sets up the restoration of the bond between Jack and Daniel. I didn't feel it in the first episodes of this season, the way it's been there in the earlier seasons.
Enemy mine:
Another great Daniel episode! He gets to do what he does best and Jack trusts him, and supports him with public appreciation! He gets in Daniel's personal space again! And yeah, I love the Unas.
On a sidenote: the military attitude of 'We found something we want, and if they're not going to let us have it voluntary within 24 hours, we'll just kill them.' is infuriating. The horrible thing is, that it often works that way in real life too *fumes*
Space race:
This episode made me run for my computer and write this entry, because ooooooooh the team-love! And Sam being a kick-ass thrill-seeker! With a million little moments between all members. And I just love these fun episodes, that look like everybody, cast and crew had a great time writing, acting and making them.
By the way: Jack looks good enough to eat in all these episodes, rawr...

Date: 2007-05-31 12:40 pm (UTC)and yeah -- even the directors said they underplayed "Daniel Returns."
your responses are pretty much identical to mine, i think. i love all the Unas episodes and have thrown my own mini marathons where i play in order, The First Ones, Beast of Burden and Enemy Mine.
so glad you are feeling the sg-1 love. can't wait to see what you make of the rest of Season 7, because in general it's one of my fav seasons.

Date: 2007-06-01 10:55 am (UTC)So I was anticipating season 7, because Daniel would be back. 'Full circle', the final episode of season 6, had me all confused with everybody's tepid reaction to Daniel appearing, and on top of that Jack's reaction to Skaara's death/ascension. And then Fallen came, and I thought 'That's it?!'
Episode 4 made me sit up straight again though, and episodes 6, 7 and 8 have me all flailing and whooping and pumping my fist. I'm feeling the team-love and above all the Daniel/Jack loving ♥

Date: 2007-06-01 11:02 am (UTC)One thing though; I've loved Jack from his very first scene in the series, and as far as I'm concerned he's a vast improvement on movie-verse Jack, who didn't do a thing for me. But as far as looks go he gets increasingly sexy in the course of the series. Once the grey starts to seriously kick in? Yowza...

Date: 2007-06-01 03:38 pm (UTC)I love Jack and I'll read him with almost anyone. My fave right now is One Way Ticket by Tarlan. Jack and Rodney McKay. Yum.
*g* Richard Dean Anderson just keeps getting better. Love the grey.

Date: 2007-06-01 05:00 pm (UTC)And Eliade's fics (http://www.drizzle.com/~eliade/sg_stories.html); especially 'The other half' *whimper*
And I adore 'Unacknowledged legislators' (http://slashcity.org/quercus/Stargate/Legislators.html) by Quercus
And some of Kalimere's fics are a little to angsty for my taste, but 'Pavlov' (http://www.jd-divas.com/kalimyre/pavlov.shtml) is too yummy for words.
I've just read
meher readers to some Daniel/Jack/Sam, of which there isn't nearly enough imho! 'Undiscovered country' (http://princessofg.livejournal.com/150680.html) for example left me all kinds of breathless.Ok, I'll leave you with these for now. In the meantime I'm going to check out that Jack/Rodney fic you mentioned here, because that's a pairing I've never read before and it's got me damn curious!

Date: 2007-06-01 05:23 pm (UTC)One Way Ticket - if you haven't found it yet. :-)
Thank-you very much for the rec's and links! I'm so excited.

Date: 2007-05-31 04:48 pm (UTC)Agree all the way around.
So the kid who played mini!Jack was also on the fabulous show Joan of Arcadia, with... Mary Steenburgen. Seriously! :-) (I even saw a fic once where I think Cassie was watching TV and Sam realized that the one kid looked familiar... mini!Jack had moved to Hollywood. Heh!)
Lifeboat I absolutely ADORE for the way Jack is absolutely wrecked watching Daniel's body get torn to pieces, and then he just snaps. Oh, the Jack/Daniel LOVE!
Enemy Mine is awesome for the way Jack backs up Daniel, and Daniel and Chaka save the day. I've decided Col. Edwards has to be new to the SGC, brought in especially for his mining operations experience, maybe. Because the rest of the military at the SGC know you have to listen to the scientists. Also, hello Lorne!
My one little niggle is that I liked Dion Johnstone better as Chaka. Ironically Dion also played Warrick in Forsaken. But Dion was in a play when s7 was shooting, so he lost two of his "latex" characters to other actors back to back, in Enemy Mine and Space Race.
Oh my god -- how many cute Jack/Daniel moments are there in Space Race?! So many!

Date: 2007-06-01 11:08 am (UTC)And oh yeah, how could I forget to mention Lorne. Frankly I never really noticed him in SGA until fanfiction drew my attention to him. Now in Enemy Mine he's pretty hard to miss: those eyes! Wow...
It's these latest episodes that make me realize just how much I've missed Daniel and how incomplete the team felt. As much as I liked Jonas, he couldn't really fill that gap.
