I've got SGA 5x16 "Brain Storm", but I'm afraid to watch it.

Today I'm going shopping with 3 friends, which is going to be big fun, so that'll distract me, but tonight I'll have to watch it. Mr. RC is expecting me to.

I was a McKay/Keller shipper, and it's telling that even those like me who were in favor of them getting together are now also cringing and wanting it to go away.

Please. Let this all be Rodney's version of a wet dream. Make Rodney wake up to John nudging him awake with an annoyed 'Rodneyyyy, turn over, you're snoring'.

There were two good moments in the episode; the moment that Rodney was standing there in his white shirt ordering everyone from the room because he needed to work. In fact when Rodney said 'So everybody. Out!' was a near orgasmic moment...

I just checked the scene if I remembered correctly, and yeah, I can watch it on loop and never have a dull moment. I'm going to clip it after I'm done replying to comments, because it's the kind of pick-me-up I desperately need.

What was the second moment again. I know it was there because I was thinking 'oh finally another one' while watching it.

Oh right! When the K person says 'Rodney, does it really matter?!' while they're on the plane, and Rodney considers this and says 'Yes, yes it does. I'm sorry, I know that I'm supposed to be humble, I know I'm not supposed to care, but I do, I really do, and that's something you should know about me.' And then the K person says something that actually makes sense, because yep, if he cares so much about recognition from his peers, he should quit Atlantis and work in the private sector, and she knows he doesn't want that. So I guess she isn't 100% a bad person. But she's annoying anyway because it's now gotten to a point where I want to be able to just hate her completely and I don't want her to be right about anything.

I'm mostly annoyed because I was perfectly willing to love seeing Rodney getting into a romantic relationship with a woman, I would have been easy to convince, and they managed to ruin it. Completely. Not even David Hewlett could save it for me.

Oh, I am so sorry! I did read some positive reviews, but not enough to make me want to watch. The SG writers just cannot write women -- I've been watching (and cringing) for a long time, so I knew a trainwreck was coming. Look how much better they handled Woolsey than Elizabeth or Sam, you know? And I'll never stop being pissed that they're giving so much time to the K person rather than to Teyla, who is infinitely more interesting to me. (Also, if they had to pair Rodney up with a woman, why not Teyla? Surely the Athosians divorce?)

But I know how awful it is to be disappointed in your show and characters, so I'm sorry that they let you down, too.

Hey! I saw the clip you put up of Rodney in his white shirt shouting! YES, that was definitely worth watching and rewatching. DHew really is awesome.

Well, we just need to get started writing, don't we!

I feel like defending myself when I say I don't like Jennifer Keller anymore and I certainly don't like her getting together with Rodney, because I'm afraid I will come across as a jealous fangirl who doesn't want her crush to get together with anyone, or worse; one of those fangirls who hates every female who comes near her favorite guy. I'm not like that!

And I'll resist the urge to start defending myself anyway; you've written interesting female characters, you've written Rodney getting together with female characters in a satisfying way, you understand what I mean.

Ach, you're making me all sad. I don't enjoy disliking a character, or seeing my show fade into some 1950s cliche. I was recently unfriended by someone I really liked and I'm pretty sure it was because I dilike Keller and loathe Keller/McKay. But I don't (I hope) intrude into people's LJs and tell them they're wrong; quite the contrary. I like to see my friends enjoy themselves, and enjoy a show we share. I feel very sad that the show disappointed you, too.

And you certainly don't have to defend yourself; I do understand what you mean.

(Also, what you said about my female characters? Makes me SO HAPPY.)

Watch it. Just get it over and done with. Mind you, after you removed the band-aid in one go, there will be some blood, and you'll feel raw, but it's one of those things that have to be done.

Actually, the episode itself is pretty much hilarious. Dave Foley is Rodney's academic nemesis! Bill Nye is snarky! The romance thing, since I was spoiled there would be McKeller, is as eye-rolling as I feared. I would say it's as unreal as Rodney/Katie, but TV has its own unrealistic representations of what romance is. So I'll just be over here with the fanwanks and the fic.
