...and she's off again. To the luxury of a fully equipped cottage; coffeemaker, dishwasher, beds are made when we arrive and they even had an on-line grocery delivery service so we'll have all the basic needs like *cough*chilled-beer*cough* bread and milk when we arrive.

And later this week there will be the rock festival yay!!

See you next week and remember; make loooooove, not wank.

Hi! Home for a bit, between camping at the seaside and staying in a holiday cottage. Doing laundry, cleaning and putting away the camping gear. Between takes I sneak in some fandom-time and here's what I've been enjoying:

Stargate Atlantis

[livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's "Five lies John told", now with added art by [livejournal.com profile] lim. These two keep on inspiring and complimenting each other in such a delightful way.

I watched the latest episode "The Daedalus variations". Cut for teeny tiny (spoilerish) review. )
There appears to be a two week break while the Olympic games are going on, so it'll take a while longer then expected to get to the episode I'm so looking forward to (link includes spoiler picture) *ngggggh*

[livejournal.com profile] jhava made a team focussed Atlantis wallpaper that made me go 'yes, yes, yessss!!' and it's now my desktop.

Stargate SG-1

[livejournal.com profile] paian has added more bits to her WIP comment fic "Come what may" (I'm now at comment no. 63 70) and I have to sit on my hands to stop myself from writing any more feedback *headdesk*. Soon people will wish I was still suffering from my feedback-block.

[livejournal.com profile] apple_pi pointed out a better version of the Michael/Ben Comic Con kiss and Scorpsik made it into Daniel/Cameron kiss art.

Music

When I got home a parcel had arrived of the Linkin Park cd I'd ordered; 'Minutes to midnight', the one with 'What I've done' on it. I've immediately put it on my ipod.

On that note:

Harry Potter

It was in fact this vid (spoilers for the Deathly Hallows chapter called "The Forest Again") that made me decide that I wanted the cd.

Avatar

Speaking of vids: I'm not in the Avatar fandom, but my daughter is, and right before going on holiday last week she posted her latest Avatar vid on YouTube and was pleasantly surprised with the enthusiastic reactions it had gotten.

Oh, and although I'm not in the fandom, I still have a favorite Avatar vid by Ravenhpltc24. Awesome timing and use of music and lyrics that one!

Packing almost done and then we're leaving. First for a camping on one of the Northern islands of The Netherlands. (Yes, we have islands. Small ones.) We'll be spending a week with my brother-in-law, his wife and their 4 children, walking distance from the sea. \o/

Then we'll spend a week in a holiday cottage in the middle of the country just the five of us. This cottage is near Biddinghuizen where a rockfestival will be, for which my daughter, my youngest son and I have tickets. More \o/
Mr. RC and the oldest son didn't feel like going too, so they'll drop us off at the start of each day and pick us up at the end and they'll spend the day biking or whatever they feel like doing.

It will be awesome!

We'll be back late on Sunday August 17th.

Take care all of you!

Simple but effective vid.

rodneyscat: (gogol bordello party)
He'd turned 17 (omg, he's 17 already...) and had asked if he could throw a proper party this Saturday, and we'd agreed.

The party involved about 25 friends, 4 crates of beer, a crate of Breezer, lots of soda and energy drinks and a wide assortment of crisps and nibbles. We'd put a couple of pots with sand in the garden for the smokers (we don't allow smoking inside, luckily the weather was nice).

Mr. RC and I mostly sat upstairs reading and computering, and occasionally went downstairs to get a drink ourselves and try to ignore the necking and snogging that was going on here and there. The guys and girls were all very chipper and nice, most of them introducing themselves (to the point that I asked if we were going to be quizzed at the end of the evening). Every now and then we had to remind oldest that we do as a matter of fact have neighbours, with whom we'd like to continue to be on friendly terms, so could he keep the noise at a somewhat acceptable level (especially since the 'music' sounded something like this; we have different tastes, to say the least...).

Plenty people got drunk. Nobody got sick or agressive.

By 1.30 am the last guests had left, oldest, his girlfriend (who stayed over), Mr. RC and I sat down for a final beer and then we went to bed. The house looked a bit like a disaster area, but nothing a garbage-bag, broom and mop couldn't solve, so everything is back to normal now.

I'd call it a success :D

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] loreley_se I've got Cadbury flake to go with my coffee and printed porny fic.

*dies from sensory overload*

I'll be the one with the red Mando Diao t-shirt and the big fat grin on her face!!!

This is something I've been wanting to do for a while now. My internet name has been dutch_eowyn almost exclusively and almost from day one. For a year now I've been going by another name, starting with YouTube, and I've grown really fond of that name and have been using it in more places (mostly music related sites).

I've purchased a rename token, and will at some time this week put it into use. Just thought I'd give you the heads up. Give you the chance to get used to the idea :)

rodneyscat: (rodney and john in a field)
Since a) this month is 'literary thriller month' and b) I haven't read a thriller in years and c) I'm working in a bookstore and all, I thought it would be a good idea to sample some of what's currently popular.

So today I read my first Karin Slaughter novel 'Blindsighted'.

Boy I could really use some comfort fic right about now...

rodneyscat: (gogol bordello party)
Yesterday evening, instead of catching up with lj like I promised, I spend the evening with Mr. D_E and the kids, watching season 2 episodes of SGA, drinking wine and eating my favorite crisps.

Today I'm going to Pinkpop with my daughter.

So yeah, the catching up will have to wait until Sunday. And Monday. And Tuesday. Because I've got all of these days off and nothing planned. *beams*

rodneyscat: (rodney taintor style bite me)
Yesterday I went to an AJ McLean concert in Paradiso Amsterdam.

I actually quite liked it.

[livejournal.com profile] gayadi made me.

rodneyscat: (sga david likes joe's butt)
I've got 4 (four!) days off. And the best thing is, I've got absolutely nothing planned for those days and I can sleep in on all 4 (four!) of them.

I can barely believe it! *pinches self*

*beams*

You know, whenever I've got one of those days where I feel like saying 'fuck it all, I'm going to cram myself with food, damn the consequences', I check this link, laugh myself silly and praise Weight Watchers for having crossed my path in this day and age.

It's way more easier to keep to their program knowing I will never have to eat this.

rodneyscat: (john looks at rodney)
I'll write this entry by numbers. [livejournal.com profile] starfishchick-style so to speak ;)

1. Still loving my job.

2. Tomorrow [livejournal.com profile] gayadi is dropping by for an afternoon of SGA watching \o/

3. I've got daytickets for Saturday at Pinkpop!! The Editors will be there!!!!! I'll be going with my daughter :D

4. I found a flaw in my parents-in-law: they're celebrating their 50th wedding-day anniversary smack in the middle of Rock Werchter. [livejournal.com profile] loreley_se and I will find ways to schedule around that, I'm sure, but it's a nuisance [/spoiled brat mode]

5. Still very much in love with my husband.

6. Rodney makes a good second place though.

7. For those curious, I wrote the answers to the music quiz.

8. I'm feeling bad for not feeling bad about 'Midway'. I understand where this is coming from, but when I'm really honest I don't feel it that way. And I don't know why. I think I should (not because others would think so, but because I think I should feel differently. Ok, this is getting way too complicated...)

rodneyscat: (elijah dj try 17)
I'm gonna buy an ipod *is very excited*

The thing is that:
1) I've been away from home a lot lately and when I'm at home there are usually others with whom I'm talking or watching tv etc, and I noticed I missed listening to my own choice in music.
2) I spend quite some hours every week traveling to and from my work.

I figured, why not combine these two points and buy an mp3 player. I can listen to music while I travel! What a concept!! It had to be a cheap player of course, because it's just for me... When I told mr. D_E about my clever plan he rolled his eyes and told me to go get an ipod.

So this weekend I've been getting used to the idea. Today, during my break, I went to a nearby store that sells 'm and fell in love with this little cutie. There's a special offer on them this week and this store accepts the coupons I got from the cinema as my goodbye present, which made me feel a little more comfortable about the whole idea.

I've started putting together a folder with my absolute favorite songs from my cd's and tonight I installed itunes and bought my first five songs there; four because they can't be bought over here any other way and one because it's the very first song I downloaded illegally by way of Kazaa way back when. )

And tomorrow I'm gonna buy an ipod. *beams*

rodneyscat: (daniel happy crinkly nose)
I'm here typing on [livejournal.com profile] loreley_se's laptop (and cursing every now and then, because the buttons don't always work the way I expect them to do *backspaces a lot*). \o/

We just watched the final season 1 episodes of Torchwood, Jonathan Ross is on now, and I'm hoping to get a little SGA season 3 squeezed in after that...

I have a ticket for Pegasus 3, which I will attend on Sunday (yeah, just the one day, because I prefer meeting up with Dani to actually consist of meeting up with Dani). Of course it's a shame Kate Hewlett can't be there, but I just read that Andee Frizzell is going to be there instead, which thrills me to no end. Now all I have to do is find out what the Sunday program looks like, because the site doesn't give any details.

Okay, enough with the struggling with this keyboard, I'm going to check if there's more sparkling white wine :D
rodneyscat: (daniel happy crinkly nose)
The not so good:

- I really desperately miss participating in fandom stuff, and I so want to be able to comment and reply and such, and send out some emails, but it's just not going to happen until January. I miss you all terribly!
- Having the movie theater as a secondary part-time job is sadly not working as I'd hoped. It's not even so much a matter of time, but my heart is just not in it anymore now I know how satisfying it is to be working in a well running business and be part of a motivated team.

The great:

- The two points in the 'not so good' category will be solved.
- I'm loving my new job & colleagues.
- My husband and kids are so damn supportive in every way and things are running smoothly at home.
- I don't have a hangover.
- I got laid pretty spectacularly last night.

rodneyscat: (rodney sleeping)
In case anyone was wondering: I now know from experience that being the mom of three adolescents, combined with having two part-time jobs takes a lot of energy.

I'm really kind of tired right now, so it's a good thing I only have to work one more day and then I'll have two whole days off \o/

rodneyscat: (guust vrolijk)
I got the job! \o/

Now I have to tell my boss & colleagues this afternoon...

I'm taking along home-made brownies to soften the blow. Hope it helps *braces self*
